The prize-winning racehorse Seabiscuit¬†was bred at Wheatley Stables, owned by two of the grandchildren of D.O. Mills. The long-term caretaker of Charles Howard’s Hillsborough estate donated this painting of Seabiscuit, by artist James Nelson Slick, to the Burlingame Historical Society. ¬†Charles Howard owned Seabiscuit in the 1930s.
