W.D.M. Howard writes to a business associate in Boston about the “perfectly crazy” state of affairs during the early days of the California Gold Rush and the business opportunities it presents.
This letter, at the time owned by Kenneth Bechtel, was published in June of 1948 as the sixth in a series of Letters of the Gold Discovery by the Book Club of California.
